Cindy Franco Sawyer

MCYA Technology & Merch Manager

Cindy Franco Sawyer has a passion for supporting young people and their interest in music. With music being a part of her life from a young age, she is aware of the impact music can have on a person’s life and has a soft spot the pageantry arts. She opted for a path in computer science and mathematics at Texas A&M University because the university did not have a music department at that time, but joined TAMU’s Symphonic Band to keep music in her life.

Cindy spent the first few years of her professional career teaching math before entering the software development field. While teaching, she eventually became department chair and lead the math vertical realignment committee evaluating math education from Kindergarten through Calculus. Her efforts in software development earned her several speaking engagements at world-wide conferences and a key note speaker invitation at a large college in Texas.

During that time, Cindy ensured that music was a part of her sons’ lives, both of whom were music majors in college. She was an active band parent when they were both in Middle and High School and attended almost every performance they had when they were in college.

It was Cindy’s youngest that introduced her to Music City Drum Corps when he auditioned and became a member in 2015.

She volunteered on the Food Truck with Mama Shepherd before seeing a need for merch sales at drum corps shows. She and Mark Garey traveled together with meager wares to several shows that summer, eventually growing “merch” to sit firmly and confidently with other World Class corps in DCI Marketplaces. Music City was still a young corps in 2015 and the corps’ website reflected that. With Mr. Garey’s support, she was given the opportunity to transform the corps’ web presence to a modern website with an e-commerce facet. The website has undergone one major shift since that time and she is still maintaining the website for the corps, as well as many of its digital assets.

Cindy served on Music City Youth in the Art’s board of directors for several years, holding the office of Secretary, and chairing a couple of committees. She chose to step down from the board in 2023 in order to take on a more operational role with the organization, unable to dedicate sufficient time with both the her operational and board responsibilities to elevate the corps to the next level.

Cindy and her husband, Travis, live in Lebanon, TN and have three children, Scott and Chandler Franco and Hunter Sawyer, a pup and two grand-pups.
