Joshua Hyson
Percussion Staff - Tenors
Joshua Hyson is currently 22 years old based out of San Antonio, Texas. Jumping from baritone to tenors his freshman year of highschool, it’s been a specialty and big interest of his ever since. After graduating, he attended The University of Texas at San Antonio for 2 years studying Music Performance where he also was a member of the Spirit of San Antonio (UTSA SOSA Marching Band) under Ben Pyles.
He was contracted for the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps in 2022 where he would go to march under Ben Pyles and Taha Ahmed, the group placed 10th scoring the highest 10th place score in history with a 90.013. The Following year he would go to march at the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps under Colin Mcnutt and staff, the group placed 4th scoring the highest 4th place score in history with a 96.925. After he aged out of DCI in 2023 he would go to march Monarch Independent, a WGI indoor percussion group, the winter of 2023/2024 under Ben Pyles and Taha Ahmed.
Joshua currently teaches around the San Antonio area at Louis D. Brandeis High School, where he gives private lessons and is one of the current battery technicians. In his free time he likes to listen to music, play drum set and piano, and tend to his carnivorous plants.
