Hudson Dunbar
Percussion Staff - Snares
Hudson Dunbar is a private snare drum instructor and Music City alum based in Auburn, AL. His online lessons have garnered attention from around the globe, allowing him to work with aspiring snare drummers in 25 states, the Netherlands, Micronesia, and Hong Kong.
Hudson graduated from Auburn University with his Bachelor’s of Music in Composition & Technology. His snare solo Prognosticate was recognized by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) in their competition’s collegiate division. As an undergrad, Hudson was a member of the marching band, percussion ensemble, and served as principal percussionist for the Auburn Symphonic Winds. He is currently a percussion artist with 825 Marching.
Following graduation, Hudson focused on managing his growing snare lessons studio; he started offering online lessons during COVID - teaching from his parents’ garage - before going on to perform with the Phantom Regiment. Currently, Hudson remains in pursuit of creating new possibilities for online instruction. He has hosted online drum camps in the summer, collaborating with experienced clinicians to provide unique learning opportunities not found elsewhere.
Hudson believes in quality education that can be accessible to anyone who is passionate about their dreams. As an educator motivated to pass the torch, he has taught many musicians who have competed in all levels of DCI and WGI, as well as fellow educators. When not teaching, Hudson enjoys composing, listening to video game music, and spending time with his family and his cat, Phantom.
