Music City Youth in the Arts Board Holds Annual Retreat, Passes Balanced FY25 Budget

November 4, 2024 | Nashville, TN –

Music City Youth in the Arts (MCYA), the parent organization of Music City Drum Corps, convened its board of directors in Nashville this past weekend for its annual retreat. The gathering provided an opportunity for the board to reflect on a challenging 2024 fiscal year and lay the groundwork for a promising future.

Despite facing financial pressures in 2024, MCYA has made significant strides in securing a strong financial direction, setting the stage for a more stable and sustainable year ahead. During the retreat, the board reviewed the current fiscal year’s financial performance, with key discussions around effective growth strategies designed to bolster financial health and expand program offerings for young artists.

The FY25 budget proposal was a central topic at the retreat. After thorough analysis and discussion, the board unanimously approved a balanced budget for FY25. This budget not only addresses the organization’s needs but also aligns with its vision of positively transforming young people’s lives. “2024 was a difficult year, but through focused efforts and the resilience of our team, we’re ending it in a far stronger position,” said Chris Cooper, President of the MCYA Board. “We’re optimistic about the future and are committed to continuing our mission with renewed strength and vision.”

With a solid financial foundation in place, MCYA is well-positioned to advance its transformative programs and foster growth within Music City Drum Corps and other youth arts initiatives. The organization is looking forward to building on this progress and creating impactful opportunities for young artists throughout the upcoming year and beyond.
