Join the Board of Directors

Music City Youth in the Arts invites individuals with a strong interest in supporting nonprofit youth development programs to apply to serve on its Board of Directors.

Music City was formed in 2008 to provide experiential education in music and visual performance to young people through immersive programs emphasizing camaraderie, fitness and leadership development. The Music City Drum Corps currently serves as MCYA’s primary performing unit.

“Serving on a nonprofit board of directors is a unique and rewarding way to give back to the community,” said Chris Carroll, president of the MCYA Board. “This opportunity is all the richer because members play a critical role influencing the education and life skills development of young people.”

Board members are responsible for strategic planning, fiscal management and general oversight of the nonprofit. Prior experience in music performance, marching band or other pageantry arts is not required.

“We’re particularly eager to consider individuals with experience in health and wellness, youth programs, fundraising and development, and risk management,” Carroll said. “What matters most are folks who share our passion for delivering meaningful, safe and life-transforming experiences for youth. We’re also working to ensure our board is as diverse as the families and communities we serve.”

Tennessee residency is not required for board members. To learn more about board operations click here to see MCYA Bylaws. Board member terms are three years with new members added on a rolling basis. To apply for consideration, please complete an application here.
